PALITOY DOLLS - SILKY -

SILKY
Thought
by many to be a Tressy sister but this is not the case. Silky was a grow
hair doll, about the same size as Toots but she has little 'boobs'. She
has a built in key in her back to rewind hair. Silky can easily be recognized
by her characteristic upturned palms. Most often found with blonde
hair, sometimes red, although I don't think I have ever seen a brunette.
She also had pose able legs. Both Silky dolls are wearing modern Barbie clothes.

PIPPA |
|
 |
Another very
very popular doll
from the Palitoy stable was 'Pippa'
Being a much smaller doll than Tressy, she was jointed, had eyelashes
& long silky hair.
These dolls although not rare are very collectable
& were released in the 1970's.
All Pippa dolls & clothes hold a good price & bidding in on-line
auctions can be fierce - but friendly!
Shown here are my own dolls Marie & Pippa

From the collection Erick Esch -
Sheena with Brown & Blue eyes.

Thumbnail as always - click for larger image |
|
These eyes do not appear
to have been replaced - I have never seen Sheena with Brown eyes
We must remember that some dolls may have been made specially for Toy Fairs
& Exhibitions.
Also there are always dolls found that were completed with whatever they had
available at the time! Affectionately known as 'Friday afternoon dolls' -
often much sought after by people like me!
My thanks to Erick for his help & information. Sheena's necklace shown here
is a reproduction. |

1971 Goldilocks
This lovely boxed goldilocks
was purchased on eBay recently for £13 !She was very grubby, having
been left un-played with in a loft for 35 years!
You will notice this box has 'Bradgate' on it. This was a division
of the Palitoy group. The Comb/brush is all that is missing from the
box. The box would have had a cellophane window over it originally.
As you can see she has scrubbed up well - and all she needs now is
some socks. Shoes are original for this version. The pictures
further down the page show a slightly earlier version of Goldilocks. |

Goldilocks was a sweet
little girl / baby of 14" she had the Palitoy grow hair feature &
was released in 1969.
I think she is simply lovely & was thrilled when
I found this one in excellent condition recently.
|

This is my own
Goldilocks, this one has very pale blonde hair.
She is wearing a vintage Faerie Glen dress & shoes from Gracie's
Doll Supplies.
These pictures are thumbnails but are not the greatest quality - however,
as always you should be able to identify these outfits & dolls.
She was
described as - Packaged complete with her hairstyling booklet & brush
& comb in a 'keep clean' window box for shelf display.
She had a range of trendy outfits that would also fit other Palitoy size
14 girl dolls, including Tiny Talks, Gay Gadabout & 14" walking
dolls.
Like Tressy she had many outfits, these pictures also show some
hairstyling possibilities. See bottom of page for Goldilocks booklet!

Goldilocks as she came in 1969
Blue Denim Pinafore Dress with two orange flowers & an orange blouse.
Blue knickers to match her dress - white socks & shoes
|

Goldilocks as she came in 1970
Orange dress & white blouse with tube socks
& white Cinderella shoes |

Weekend
Treat - a real fashion outfit: Coat dress & hat to match, in navy
trimmed with orange.
|
|

Sweet Dreams - Bedtime in a floral printed
housecoat and plain nightie to match, both trimmed in white.
Poor girl had no slippers!
|

Out of school -A polka dot pinafore dress with
contrasting collar, sleeves, tie & Knickers.
The designers were obviously
fond of orange in 1970. |

Gay time - Pretty printed party dress with
lace-edged flounces at the hem, white pantalettes trimmed with broderie
anglaise.
I think the hairstyle on this one is
exquisite. |

These pictures are to help you
identify GOLDILOCKS - keep looking their must be lots of them out there! |

She was described in the catalogue as -
Goldilocks, a lifelike doll with hair that really grows just like
Tressy's! It winds in and out at the turn of a wheel so she can have
hundreds of hairstyles |
